Enjoyed on tap at Goose Island Clybourn at Rare Stout Night which was part of Chicago Craft Beer week. Appearance pitch black with rich off white head. Aroma not really present, maybe a bit of roasted malt in the back end. Taste is smooth, an easy drinker, milky with roasted malt and chocolate notes. Good, solid stout.

Imperial Pint at the brewpub. Opaque black with an off-white to beige head. Big roasty chocolate flavor. Full bodied, creamy, with a bitter cocoa finish. Rich, with no harsh alcohol edge, with maybe a slight bittersweet warming feel ( I had no idea the ABV was only 5.9% at the time). Quality stuff.

Sampled from the cast at the 2010 GTMW. Poured a clear dark brown with a slight yellow hue and a brown head that dissipated to the edges. Aroma was full coffee with a bit of sweet chocolate and underlying dark grains. Flavor had lots of roasted malt and coffee that mellowed to a sweet chocolate and dark grain finish.

(10/9/08) Draught sample at the brewpub in Clybourn, Chicago. 5.7% ABV. Black-colored with a beige head. Very hoppy nose with some floral notes and roasted malt. Sweet flavor with some roasted malt and coffee hints. In the middle, the flavor gets hoppy and very bitter with some citrus. Medium-bodied. A bit too hoppy for my Stout preferences but still very pleasant.
