Wet Hop Pale Ale
Our Annual Tribute to Vancouver Island's farmers. We collaborated with Kyle Michell at Five Field Farm; a multi-generational farm on the Saanich Peninsula, to bring you this locally grown red wheat Pale Ale.
Finished with fresh picked wet hops from our family's own garden hop farm.
Friends in High Places is the classic West Coast Pale Ale. The red wheat lends a slightly higher protein content as well as a mild, nutty flavour to the pale BC malt base. This allows for the massive dose of both dry and wet Cascade and Citra hops to shine through.
One of our favorite brews to date, we hope this is a sign of the great things to come from our future collaborations with local farmers and maltsters!

Amber color. Light haze, and a big thick head. The nose is hoppy with citrus, pears and stone fruits. Moderate bitterness that builds up. Sweet malts, mostly pale but a little chewiness, nuttiness. Wheat lends a touch of acidity, but just a touch, makes it more refreshing. The hops almost pick up blueberry along the way, in addition to the bright citrus and apricot accents. Just a touch of yeastiness in the finish. The different elements of this beer really complement each other well.

On tap at St Augustine's, pours a hazy golden with a small white head. Aroma is laid back, with gentle piney hops, moderate bitterness, and crisp biscuity malt. Flavour is crisp and nicely bitter, with lots of bitter piney hops, some pine cones, and crisp biscuity malt. Seems more like an IPA to me with the bitterness. Very good.
