Cask at Hops, Crewe. Pours golden yellow with a small scummy off-white head ad good lacing. The aroma has floral hops and lemongrass plus some hints of citrus. In the mouth there’s some brief initial sweetness before bitterness wins through. Flavour has floral hops, resinous pine and kiwi plus a touch of lime later on. Both bitter and sweetness last into the decidedly dry finish. This is decent.

Cask at the Pup and Duckling, Solihull. Poured a clear medium amber colour with a lasting frothy white head. The aroma is grainy malt, light citrus. The flavour is moderate bitter, with a smooth, rich, light juicy citrus, big woody hop bitter palate and a long bitter finish. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Handpull cask at the Kings Head, Leicester. Mid- to dark gold, clear with a spotty white head. Smells of grass, sharp citrus, astringent notes. Tastes bitter with very little let-up throughout, and a very drying finish. Squirts of lime in the aftertaste. Light body soft carbonation. Not your average APA but this does have some lovely character.
