Bak Mo Sheung White Stout is an enigmatic spin off from our much loved Hak Mo Sheung series, also barrel aged with Woodford Reserve bourbon barrels, leaving a lingering presence of vanillin. Cold brewed with dark roasted coffee beans and cacao nibs, creating desirable roasty note with hints of toffee. Deceivingly full mouthfeel, when drank with your eyes closed, would you know it’s not dark?

Bottle from Brewcraft (I think) at home. Slightly hazy deep copper amber pour with very thin fine white head. Aroma is vanilla wood white chocolate leather sweet alcohol. Like a stout, I guess obviously, but a little sweeter. Taste is bitter and alcoholic up front tempered by creamy chocolate vanilla sweetness, woody mellowness. Palate has limited but sufficient carbonation. Relatively thin in a good way, given light bubbles. Quite good! White stout probably won’t replace dark stout for me but it’s not a gimmick though.
