Southern Passion IPA is a result of our constant quest for new and awesome hop varieties. Southern Passion hops are grown in South Africa, a region not popularly known for hop growing. Aromas and flavors of melon, blueberry and coconut with a nice resiny finish.

Poured from a 22 oz bottle that popery held onto for too long before giving to me. Aroma is very hoppy with a light cracker malt backbone. Lots of tropical fruit and melon with some light, bright berry notes and a light dank and resinous character. Some light citrus notes as well. Very fruity, but the light dank and resinous notes provide a nice balance. Pours a cloudy, dull golden straw color with a medium sized, thick, white head that slowly recedes to the edges where it lingers. Medium lacing and faint legs. Flavor is somewhat sweet with a light grain note and some cracker malt character. Medium bitterness with quite a bit of hop flavor. Lots of melon, tropical and stone fruit. Faint citrus with light resin and dank notes. The fruit notes accentuate the sweetness. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a very nice, hop forward IPA. Hops have great fruit notes, but itβs balanced with some light dank and resin notes. Good background malt notes. Very easy drinking.

The beer is a bright but cloudy ripe banana yellow. Solid white head. Some lacing, good retention. Tons of tropical fruit. Big passion fruit, peach, apricot, mango, some lime, melon, mild tangerine, grapefruit. Moderately bitter at most in the taste. Super easy to drink. Lots of apricot flavor, probably the most Iβve ever found in a hoppy beer. Moderate spice with a little pine. Light body with some hop slickness. Very good stuff.

Bottle at Caps & Taps. It pours a lightly hazed pale yellow color with a white head. The aroma is grassy and citrusy with some melon, and soft notes of vanilla and coconut. Barely noticeable, but it gives it a little extra something special. The flavor is the same. Grassy, coconut, grapefruit and melon. The malts are very pale and bready/cracker with some nice dextrin sweetness to balance the massive hop charge. The body is creamy and velvety with light grassy/spicy bitterness. Great stuff.

Draught at Ale Arsenal. Man - I feel like i missed the boat on this one. I received a puckering, over ripe juice that lacked the backbone to carry through it all.

Tap at the brewery. Aroma is nice fresh juicy tropical stone fruit, bready malts, little hint of dank, passion fruit. Translucent golden yellow coloured pour with a lasting thin white head. Flavour is spicy lemon, juicy mango, light dank lemon citrus, chve in the finish. Palate is fine, medium light, highish carbonation. Assertive balanced clean bitterness. Nice lingering melon note.
