Bottle from the Suffolk Food Hall, near Ipswich. Deep ruby-black with a moderate beige head and a rather annoyingly prickly fizz. Blackcurrant leaf to the forefront, with a little coffee and vinegar and then a dry smoky finish. Full-flavoured and well-balanced, but something in the flavour doesn’t quite do it for me. And it’s too fizzy for the style. Nevertheless it’s an ok stout with quite a distinctive character- certainly the acidity of the vinegar is interesting.
