Cask at Chippenham Beer Festival. Black with a beige head. Coffee is the main flavour here; it’s bitter with lots of heavily roasted malt. Behind that though there’s a smooth creamy sweetness to balance it out with a hint of dates and molasses, making it a rich, satisfying beer to start the festival on. Nice.

Cask-conditioned at the Three Crowns, Chippenham 16/2/2013. Dark brown with a decent, off-white head. Coffee and tart fruit aroma. Flavour had plenty of toasty malts, more fruit and led to a dryish finish. Enjoyable.
