Another saranac, man I really dig those saranac varieties, they were craft before craft was craft. This one, from a nifty labeled bottle, this stuff pours clear pale with a typical beer white head. Come to think of it, even tho I have had so many saranacs, I can't think of a single one from a can, nice job sarry! The head fades rapidly. First taste impression is well behaved friendly old country pils without the typical astringent domestic wannah bee rudeness. Not bad, quite refreshing, actually. Yes, there is some of that old country civilized feel to this. Think this; the original budweiser of the euro country. Nice, enjoyable without being rude like so many craft beers lately. Saranac does it again, so many different kind of beers from a macro craft company, loving it. Most of them are pretty good, too! I rated their golden pilsner a 2.8 but I think this may be better! This stuff goes down pretty easy in the middle and its also quite refreshing! Finally, on the finish I do detect just a little of those domestic ill effects but it doesn't quite interfere with the drinakability. And yes, the final impression is slightly annoying, rude united states old country pilsner wannah bee, right up there with domestic bud, but on par with its domestic cousin civilized bud. I gave domestic bud a 2.6, should have rated it higher.

Grass, formaldehyde, onion nose. Clear amber, thick lacy head. Floral violets, lavender, soap, grass. Medium body, easy carbonation. Tastes like hand soap.

6 week old bottle from summer variety A: Crystal clear bubbly pale gold with a very short white head that fell quickly to a ring. S: Bready, lemony and floral scent. Light but nice. T: Sweet bready malts dominate with just enough herbal and citrus hop bitterness then a little lemon pith at the finish. M: Light, clean and drinkable if a bit thin. O: Hopped up pils but not totally bastardized and actually pretty nice.
