From cask dispense at the Half Moon, Windlesham (Feb ’12) As the name implies, pours to a ruby / mid brown colour with a creamy beige head. Aromas are of sweet malts with a nutty background, Cornish chestnuts being one of the ingredients! Sweet malt, chestnuts, and a little spice comprise the taste of this winter brew. I also sense a little caramel and sugar thrown in, definately a ’sweetish’ beer! Mouthfeel was quite smooth and creamy, little carbonation and a slightly (and only slightly) sour aftertaste following on from an initial dryness. A nice way to finish from a beer fairly sweet in nature! Overall - a decent enough winter beer.
