Can at the latest DC Ratebeer tasting. Poured a nearly pitch black color with a medium sized, foamy tan head. Aroma was roasted malts, big chocolate malt, big coffee with some light barrel character to it. Pleasant stuff.

Roast and a little booze. Black pour with mocha head and lacing. Bitter end. Light tan. Ok, just a little thin. Can.

Can pour from Valley Beverage, Sherman Oaks. It's an opaque black with no sparkle, 5(!)-finger width light brown foamy head with good retention and light lacing. Aroma is strong, bitter roasted malt, bordering on ash, with an abrasive quality. Taste is earthy roasted malt with lighter bitter coffee. Mouthfeel is light side of light-to-medium bodied with thin, frothy texture, soft carbonation and dry, crisp finish as taste with lingering roasted bitterness. Overall, not getting the rum barrels at all. Mostly bitter.
