Cloudy medium red-amber, very thin head. Fruity, orange zest, and deep caramel nose...has a lot of Bigfoot influence. Overly chewy and rich on the palate...trop de crystal... I cannot deal. Oky like a sixer of Bigfoot that was aged too warm.

Pours cloudy red with good lacing and head. Either palate wrecker wrecked my palate or this comes off pretty light. Consistency a little syrupy. Finishes bitter and hoppy. Itβs a good, well balanced packed but lacks an extra dose of creativity. Tap at Alibi Room.

On tap at the Alibi Room, pours a beautiful deep dark amber with a medium beige / tan head. Aroma of caramel malts, toffee, brown sugar and a medium hop quality. Flavour brings out notes of toffee and brown sugar upfront, balanced by a good dose of resinous hops. In contrast to their Thor's Hammer barley wine, this is way more balanced with a higher hop content, i.e. much better balanced. Fairly thin bodied for a barley wine but full flavoured with low residual sugars. The hop content leaves quite a high astringency on the finish. This is sort of on the fence between a hoppy barley wine and a malty IIPA. Great stuff.

Draught at the Brewpub
Dark mahogany color with red hue, small and persistent creamy head. Mild aroma of caramel. Lean body, with malt mouthfeel; strong flavor of caramel, but less malty than usual barley wines. It has a earthy character, soil, dirt, with very light vegetables and the idea of phenol; it has though a nice lemony accent behind the malts. Quite strong bitterness, and the final is balanced between caramel, sweetness and bitterness.
Not as good as expected.
