Sample at the Barrel House. Dark brownish-black color with a medium khaki head that recedes slowly. Small patches of lacing. Aroma of roasted malt and coffee. Light-bodied with a roasty character and flavors of sweet malt, coffee and slight dark chocolate. The finish is semi-sweet with a roast malt aftertaste. Decent overall.

On tap at Cascade, pours a fairly clear dark amber with a small tan head. Aroma of light roast, bittersweet dark cocoa, and some light toast. Flavour is very bland - with dry bitter cocoa (but barely discernible), some muted roast and not much else. Very bland and muted, as often with this style. Drinkable but weak.

On tap at Raccoon Lodge. Pours a pure black color with a medium off-white/beige head. A big roast and char nose. Really sessionable without sacrificing flavor: chocolate, vanilla, sweet nutty malts. Light roast and metal. Good.
