Amber with slight haze. The aroma is buttery. This has a toasty, buttery character. Odd brew - tastes like old man bitter, but it’s way too strong for that. Also, hardly anybody drinks diacetyl-laden old man bitter in England anymore, and with good reason. Why would anyone want to replicate that over here?

On tap at Yaletown, pours a clear copper orange with a small beige head. Nose brings out British hops and biscuity malt. Flavour brings out a considerable English hop bite upfront, with just enough biscuity malt to back. Well-balanced and well-constructed over all. True to style - too bad it's a style I don't much like. Still, good for what it is.

Draught at the brewpub
Hazy amber color, creamy head. Nice Bitter, with much more fruity character than the British ones, with light residual sweetness, bold hopping, some resiny traces in the final. Close to an IPA, also enough West Coast.
Very nice.
