Draught at St. Augustine’s, Vancouver
Reddish dark amber color. Light aroma of nutty malts. Lean, with prominent caramel flavor, disturbing burnt nuts, very light diacetyl, annoying pithy bitterness in the final.
Flawed, too ashy, not very pleasant.

Draught, St. Augustine’s. Hazy light amber-brown. Thin head. Woodsy hop aroma, body is a bit thin, hops woody with moderate bitterness. Hoppy amber like the original. That type of beer wasn’t particularly dynamic at the time and today it is downright anachronistic.

On tap at St Augustine's, pours a cloudy dark reddish amber with a small beige head. Aroma brings out subtle bready malt and a touch of hops. Flavour is pretty bland, with metallic bready malt and a pronounced hoppy bitterness on the finish. Not very Scottish Ale-like, but clean enough. Meh.
