Sample at Tap House Grill. Brown-black color with a medium foamy tan head that diminishes steadily to an outer ring. Patchy lacing. Coffee, malt and chocolate in the nose. Light to medium body with a roasty coffee and malt character, and bittersweet coffee in the background. The finish is creamy espresso and malt. Decent overall.

Draught at Beveridge Place Pub, as Backwoods Joe Coffee Stout
Dark brown color, almost black. Nice aroma of coffee and dark bread. Lean mouthfeel, rather dry, but soft; it has a very nice flavor of dark bread, rye, and hints of coffee; appreciated because it never gets too ashy or roasty.

On tap at Beveridge Place Pub, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out lots of good quality coffee upfront, with a subtle sweetness underneath. Flavour is more muted, with dry coffee grounds dominating, with medium residual sweetness. Oily palate, with the coffee grounds and some sweetness lingering. Decent enough.
