Originating in the Pacific NW this Cascadian Dark Ale has a slight maltiness with the piney dank notes of an American IPA.

Medium brown. Bubbly head. Very toasty nose, malts a bit thin. Has a nice mellow toastiness, earthy bitterness. No hop brightness, just an easy-drinking hoppy brown.

Draught at St. Augustine’s, Vancouver
Dark color, near black. Nice aroma, fruity for the style. Good body strength, roasty malts dominating the flavor, and powerful hopping, result and orangey. I had Cascade hop Stouts like this in the past.

On tap at St. Augustine's, pours a red-tinged deep dark brown with a small beige head. Aroma brings out light toasted malts upfront, with earthy hops underneath. Flavour is along the same lines, with notes of earthy and piney hops, along with a rather harsh roasted malt component. Rather brutal and harsh, but still pleasant in its own way. Decent.
