We’ve finalized a new Black Ale for Half Acre.
We can all sit on sun drenched patios and freely spill speed beer down our throats till paid transportation takes us home. You want to squirrel away a couple x-tra pales and head to yoga? No problem, Namaste.
But, there are times when fleshy black beer is the only thing that offers the necessary weight. Visiting your uncle’s machine shop to thread some pipe before hitting a dirt track sprint car race….? You might want to digest some Lead Feather Black Ale.
The might of big malts and rival hop use give Lead Feather capital dark properties. 6% ABV gives you time, but not at the expense of content.
Lead Feather Black Ale will live in the line up all year. You’ll find it on draft right now in our Tap Room and soon in bars around town. Come March, we’ll load it into our favorite 16 ounce aluminum vessel.
Find one and work it into your life.

Can to becher glass.
Appearance: black in color with a three finger off-white foamy head which slid off at a nice pace and left some light lace
Aroma: nice roasty tones, coffee vibes, dark chocolate, pretty light on the milk chocolate, some earthy hoppiness
Flavor: blends the aromas roasty, semi-sweet and a touch of bitter; light aftertaste of roasty coffee, dark chocolate and earthy hops
Texture: medium bodied, somewhat sessionable, some smoothness but also a light roasty grip on my tongue; finishes roasty and coffee-ish
Overall: good enough porter I'd be willing to come back to.

Tap at Craft Heads. Caramel and treacle, cocoa, light hoppiness, nice enough, but not so exciting.

Draft (on nitro). Dark brown body with a frothy, tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, sweet chocolate, molasses. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, nitro texture, lively carbonation. Dry finish after a sweet start. The tastes of sweet chocolate and roast bitterness are nicely balanced.

Draft 5 oz. pour, deep brown. Nose of roasted chocolate with lots of roasted notes. Excellent flavors of roasted malt, chocolate, coffee and plenty if hops. Well carbonated and lively on the tongue. High drinkability, very smooth and works pretty well.

16 ounce can from Abe's Cold Beer in Bethlehem, PA. Translucent black, brown color. Small creamy tan head. Roasted malt nose. Flavor is roasted malt, chocolate, coffee and fresh baked brownies. A straightforward American Porter. Flavorful and simplistic. Superspak, do us a solid and reduce your words. You are over analyzing in you ratings. Stop repeating yourself. Got in a trade with The-Adjunct-Hippie. 16 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 1/31/2017. Pours opaque dark brown/black color with a 2 finger dense and rocky khaki head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a large cap that lasts. Thick foamy lacing clings around the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, light pine, chocolate, cocoa, coffee, and toasted dark bread; with lighter notes of nuttiness, smoke, char, caramel, floral, grass, and roast/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt and citrus/pine hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, pine, chocolate, cocoa, coffee, and toasted dark bread; with lighter notes of nuttiness, smoke, char, caramel, floral, grass, and roast/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate pine/citrus peel hop and roast/char bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, pine, chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toasted dark bread, nuttiness, light smoke/char, floral, grass, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and citrus/pine hop flavors; with a great roast/hop bitter/sweet balance, and zero acrid/astringent hop/roast flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from hop/roast bitterness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/grainy, and lightly sticky/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 6%. Overall this is a delicious black IPA. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and citrus/pine hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the mellowly bitter/drying finish. Was expecting it to be more aggressively bitter; but this still had really great balance between hops and malts. Nice well rounded complexity between both. Kind of a more like a hoppy porter instead. A very enjoyable offering regardless.
