Bottle from the brewery
Cloudy dull golden color, almost murky, with small head. Some smell of dirt, besides that it’s a decent beer, with a good malt backbone, not crisp as modern versions, but not sticky as the older ones, resiny hops, fruity, fresh oranges, and quite good alcohol management; some yeasty chewiness. Nice beer, a bit dirty though.

650ml bottle (thx, Alex!) at Brian’s office. Pours a dirty golden with a white head. Aroma is sweet, little bit dirty, very fruity. Taste is very fruity with melon, watermelon, and caramel notes. Very nice.

On tap at Strathcona, pours a hazy golden orange with a small white head. Aroma brings out lots of sugar sweet candy, loads of resinous hops and alcohol. Flavour wallops you with truckloads of resinous hops, caramel malt and ample booze. Rather messy, but not too chaotic. It's fairly powerful and well-balanced between hops and malt. But it does have some phenolic notes that need to be dealt with. Needs work but it's a fun to drink boozy hop bomb.

Cloudy and light dull tan. Medium, even head. Some orangey hop note, bit of yeastiness, but also grapefruit so basically a citrus hop focus. On the palate, it’s more like stewed fruit and alcohol. Honestly, not working for me. Bitterness is good, malts aren’t bad at all, but I’m not crazy about the hop character, and the alcohol is jacked. Triple IPA really needs more behind it to support all that burly booze.
