Medium brown, light chocolate, medium body. A touch of fruit but no more than in a typical Irish stout. Roasty, nice balanced bitterness. Not a foreign stout - the style really is a mystery to Americans - but it’s a good American stout.

On tap at Menace, pours black with a reddish tinge and a small beige head. Aroma brings out toasted malt, oats, a hint of espresso and a touch of roast. Flavour is hearty, with a nice oat-y quality, light-medium sweetness, and dry roasted malt... a touch of espresso as well. Hearty and nicely balanced, with a clean body. Good stuff.
