Roast and sharp dark chocolate. Pours black without much head or lacing. Just a touch of caramel, but pretty dry bitter finish. My style of stout. Tap.

Med-dark brown. So really light for the style. Chocolate, and maybe a touch of toast. On the palate, quite different, more the rich, sweet, black sugar and charred fruitcake I want in an impy. Odd. It’s served at the proper temp. Finish is sweet and sticky, but bitter, too.

Black, tan head.Nose of piney hops/dark fruit.Thin palate, bitter roast. Notes of cocoa & dark fruit.Low insweetness and carbonation. More Black IPA than Impy Stout

650mL bottle, pours black with a small white head. Aroma brings out lots of earthiness, roasted malt, and aggressive piney hops. Flavour is heavily roasted and hoppy, with big roasted malt, abrasive hops, some earthiness and dry cocoa. Very bitter and roasted. Messy but a lovely brutal beer.

Draught at St. Augustine’s, Vancouver
Black color. Mild aroma of roasted malt, milk cream, dark chocolate. The body is lean, not as strong as expected; good flavor of dark malts and dark chocolate, a bit salty; the residual sweetness is very low for this beer; strong hopping, with an evident resiny pungent character.
More like a strong Black IPA than an Imperial Stout, but still a very good beer.
