Tasting at Matt’s
Dark brown color with medium beige head. Earthy, dusty aroma. Good body, moderate residual sweetness, the flavor is earthy, some banana esters, some clove. Balanced, with enough character.
Not bad.

Medium brown. Minimal head. On the nose it’s just kind of tart and phenolic...not happening for me. Thin. Maybe a touch of wheatiness. No malt character, really...just lacks sugars. It’s a bit cleaner, sort of, if you don’t count the papery notes. You find yourself looking for things that aren’t obviously flawed...that’s not the path to great beer.

650mL bottle, pours a deep dark brown with a small beige head. Aroma brings out toasted malt, some roast, and a little herbal character. Flavour has a good amount of roasted malt, followed by a touch of banana and clove, finishing toasty and bready. What an unusual array of elements. Not totally cohesive, but it works well enough.
