Outdoor recreation is the name of our game here in Powell River. Living here means having year-round access to hiking, biking, diving, and exploring. So to us, there’s nothing better than that earned beer post-hike. At only 5.2%, this light and sessionable Belgian Single is hoppy & silky smooth thanks to the addition of oats in the mash.

Weak foam on a deep gold body, smells of sweet candied skunk cabbage. Flavour is not bad, sweet hops and modest pine notes. Good carbonation and oiliness. A mixed bag, try to get it on the cheap. 5.2% abv, barcode 626990249702

Hazy light amber, thin head. Touch of diactyl along w fruity hop on the nose. How you get butter on a single? Hoppy but husky, dull and muted by yeastiness. I’m ok with the high bitterness but the malts and yeast are big misses for me. --- Beer merged from original tick of Sentinel on 25 Oct 2018 at 23:40 - Score: Appearance - 4 | Aroma - 4 | Flavor - 3 | Texture - 2 | Overall - 2.5. Original review text: Amber w some haze, nose shows some unfortunate sticky phenols. Sweet up front, feet, all sorts of fermentation issues here.

On tap at Townsite, pours a hazy golden with a medium beige head. Aroma brings out dry Belgian yeast, bitter hops and dry biscuity malt. Flavour is crisp and bitter, with lots of dry biscuity malt, bone dry Belgian yeast and a crisp crackery character. Crisp and bone dry on the mouthfeel, with ample bitterness. Very solid.

On tap at St. Augustine's, pours a clear copper golden with a small white head. Aroma is bone dry, with oats, toasted biscuity malt and a slight hint of the Belgian yeast. Flavour is more pronounced on the Belgian yeast, with crisp crackery malt, slight sweetness and fruity esters from the Belgian yeast and nicely bitter hops. Bone dry and with quite good depth for the style. Delicate and very well-structured. Really good.

Hazy golden blond color. The flavor is nicely spicy, with crisp malts; the mouthfeel is round, with mild residual sweetness, the aroma presents delicate fruity esters. Solid bitterness too.
Clean, well constructed.
