Two equal but opposite forces, in this series we celebrate the qualities of dark and light with the help of our friends at Inmist Media House. Fennel and hyssop add a black-as-night liquorice flavour to this robust sour farmhouse.

Amber, cloudy. Thin head. On the nose, a bit of alcohol, and a touch of malts, Doesn't really convey much on the aroma. Sort of a tart note, hyssop presumably, and a touch of fennel as well. There is a bit of tartness in the finish. Ultimately, it's just an odd brew.

500ml bottle at Matt's. Pours a dark opaque copper with a tan head. Aroma is red currants. Similar taste with some roasted malt notes. Fairly decent.

500mL bottle, pours a deep dark murky brown with a large beige head. Nose is loaded with fennel upfront, floral notes, and herbal notes. Flavour is very herbal and vegetal, with saison yeast, tart citrus and herbal notes, and vegetal character. Too much fennel, finishing herbal and vegetal. Not a fan of these flavours.

Draught at St. Augustine's, Vancouver
Dark amber-brown-red color. It smells sour, some vinegar, rotten fruit. There are four elements here: dark malts, sourness, Saison yeast and fennel; none of them is overwhelming, yet they are not blending together, clash on the palate, disturbing.
Chaotic beer, disharmonious brewing exercise.
