650ml bottle. Leftover from the previous day tasting at Alex's, hehe. Pours a dark brown with a tan head. Aroma is some nail polisher upfront following rum barrel notes. Taste is caramel, some barrel notes and vanilla. It is pretty thin for 11.3% ABV beer, but flavour is pretty good. Good.

650mL bottle, pours a deep amber brown with a small beige head. Aroma is along the same lines, with rum barrels upfront, some light vanilla, and cocoa. Flavour is along the same lines, with a very pleasant rum barrel upfront, followed by light vanilla and toasted malt. Really nice use of barrels. Very good.

Oxford Tasting, bottle
Dark brown colour, the head disappears quickly. The rum aroma is prominent, followed by caramel and some treacle. It would have a good body strength, but the alcohol is very strong; the caramel base is moderately sweet and there is not much depth, it could be ok for a Baltic Porter, but the rum is very strong and overwhelming, mellow, with burning alcohol.
Not elegant, but powerful, and quite good.

Dark brown colour with a thin head. The nose has some chocolate, with a touch of rum. On the palate, lighter and thinner than you'd think for a beer of its size. Nice rich toffee and caramel, but the lightish body is a bit strange. Still, the rum character really comes through as it lingers on the palate.

St. Augs. Dark brown, with a thin head. On the nose, more towards chocolate but definitely dark malts. Sweetish, with hints of roast, alcohol and toffee. Nice balance. Decent body. Has that lager cleanness and the dark malt complexity...that deceptive simplicity...that characterizes a proper Baltic.
