This pairing may be a bit in the nose but what the hell: Ruse / Moksa Waffle Iron 11% Stroopwafel-inspired Stout paired with a stroopwafel Inky black with a tan head that vanished in a blink, the aroma is soy with a sugar puff/cotton candy type of sweetness. Full bodied and super sweet candyish up front then roasty soy before that cotton candy sweetness comes back. Paired with my stroopwafel the beer gets less sweet and more beerlike with the graham from the stroopwafel shining through. Huge boozy beer, pair it as I find it too sweet on its own... On tap at Ruse, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma is loaded with cinnamon upfront, with toasted malt and a touch of maple syrup. Flavour is along the same lines, with cinnamon, maple syrup, and toasted cocoa. Spicy and sweet, but not particularly deep or complex. Okay.
