Traditionelt var old ale en maltrig, mild øl med høj alkoholprocent, der var ekstra lagret. Under lagringen iltede øllen en smule og fik den læderagtig karakter. Moderne versioner af Old Ale er ikke alle lagret.

Bottle 50 cl. Pours a clear amber with a frothy, off-white head with good retention. Rather subdued aroma, a little nuts and greasy hops perhaps. Rich, sweet, caramellish body, slightly nutty. Appears like an ESB, not a whole lot of things going on here. 240516

Bottle 500ml. [ As Bøllingsø Natskygge ].Clear medium to dark amber orange color with a large to huge, frothy - creamy, good lacing, mostly to fully lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, sweet malt, apple, toasted. Flavor is moderate sweet and light bitter with a average duration, sweet malt, caramel, toasted, fruity. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to lively. [20151121]

Bottle, 6%. Clear dark amber/brown with big tan head. Aroma malt, caramel, toasted and berries. Flavour is malt, caramel, toasted, dark fruit, berries, yeast, medium sweet, hop and a little bitter.

Bottle. Creamy White good mostly lasting head. Amber colour. light malty and hoppy aroma. Moderate bitter flavor. Average light biter finish. Slightly fizzy! Oily palate.

Bottle @ Aarhus tasting. Clear amber with a lasting off-white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, caramel and moderate hoppy - grass. Flavor is quite sweet and moderate bitter. Dry and moderate bitter finish. High carbonation. 211115

Bottle @ Højbjerg tasting, my house. Huge head with good duration. Color is amber. Aroma and taste are caramel, fruits, hops, malt and has a sweet finish.

hazy bornw, smooth yellow head. aroma is malts , mild. flavor is flowers, malts, strangely sweet and bitter, like a esb but sweeter.

Bottled. A hazy amber beer with a huge yellowish head. The aroma has notes of straw and malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, and straw, leading to a bitter finish.

Sample from 50 cl bottle. Amber color with a big white head. Sweet aroma with caramel malts, ripe fruits and grassy hops. Taste is lightly sweet. Finishes dry with caramel malts. Ok
