Traditionelt var old ale en maltrig, mild øl med høj alkoholprocent, der var ekstra lagret. Under lagringen iltede øllen en smule og fik den læderagtig karakter. Moderne versioner af Old Ale er ikke alle lagret.

Bottle@Yespr’s - Amber to brown pour with off white head. Aroma and taste is strong malty with notes of caramel and treacle, some medicinal herbal notes, rather sweet and kind of artificial taste in the finish. Not a fan.

50 cL bottle. Pours cloudy orange with a huge off white head. Aroma is toasted and malty. Herbal. Dry malty. Bitter, toasted and breadish malty. Dry and bitter, slight herbal finish.

Bottle @ Voldby øl-messe. Pours hazy golden with a white head. Aroma of malt, baking yeast, caramel, brown sugar, little fruit. Flavor is rather sweet, malty, baking yeast, brown sugar, some sweet fruit. Medium body, soft carbonation, sweet finish. 290815
