Superficial tasted @ Håntverkeren juleølfestival. Dark amber body under a beige head. Aroma has dark malt, but with a distinct touch of honey, licorices, cardamom, cloves and a hint of ginger. Cardamom seems to be the most dominating spices here served fresh, but it will always be interesting to see how spices seems to settle a bit and change over time. As usually with the Mythology meads there is a certain level of acidity here as well in this Braggot to be found in the background but this is quite moderate. Fine balanced body with long lasting, smooth aftertaste.

Bottle. It's a clear looking dark brown beer with a dense finger-thick beige head. Some curtains. The aroma is predominantely spiced, with cloves, ginger and cardamom, but there's also enough room left for the malts. Roasted, very lightly burnt, with some prune. It's full-bodied and semi-sweet, very nicely carbonated, and with the alcohol giving very little warmth. Spiced flavor too, with roasted malts, some burnt notes and dark dried fruit. More perfumed than the aroma, with a bit too much cloves, especially in the finish, where it feels clove-oily. Overall, a bit too heavily spiced, but it works well I think. Not a beer for the Christmas dinner, but for the time after dinner. 241031
