At a great tasting in Vranovo-Serbia, with markoijelena and cika Boban. Bottle, gift of Manuele after a private tasting. Grazie mille! Pours dark clear amber going brown, no head. Nose: whiskey, wood, macerated fruit, plums brandy. Just great! Mouth: balanced notes, again plums brandy, wood, whiskey. Bravo Andy!

Bottle at the brewery. 26 months in the barrel. Nose is peaches and plums, vanilla, bourbon. Very silky, oily, and smooth. Lots of estery fruits and vanilla in the flavor, plus caramel. Interesting, though does not seem to have come out perfectly.

Keg at Akkurat, Stockholm. Cloudy mahogany colour, small head. Aroma of peach brandy, vanilla and ripe fruit. Sweet and immensely boozy with raisins, caramel and butter. Turning more and more into slivovic in the finish. Amazed that something this unbalanced can come out from Gänstaller.

Many thanks to Andreas for inviting us to his brewery and to sample his brews. This one, aged for 26 months on bourbon barrels, has a dark brown body with rustic highlights under a decent tan-coloured head with lots of big bubbles. Pleasant dried fruity smell, plums and prunes, joined by dusty hops. Oak, nuts, dark and dried fruity flavours on a backbone of bourbon. Lingering dried fruity ending with warming bourbon whiskey. Well crafted, indeed (Hallerndorf 11.10.2014).
