Tap pour sampled outside the brewpub adjacent to the parking lot and amid lots of hip ‘too cool for school’ cigarette smokers. It poured up deep amber with infra red edges and light colored mocha head. The aroma is full up raspberry juice to go along with leafy shrub like earthiness, a mild level of dark roasted malts and a faint sense of chocolate well off in the background. The taste is . . . wow, that’s a lot of raspberry . . . too much really. The juicy raspberry seems to have smothered the once robust roastiness and leaving it just a faint shadow of what it once was before the treatment.
