Ahead of the winter season, we bring you a Doppelbock that has undergone 12 months of maturation in tank, and is currently the longest matured lager in the UK - ‘Nutcracker’.
A rich, full-bodied and flavoured lager with wild berry notes, subtle hints of chocolate, and a boozy warmth.

Bottle picked up from the brewery, split at the Hazlemere 2nd test tasting, 16/07/20. Golden amber pour topped with a decent light beige cap. Nose is caramel, stewed fruits, dark malts, raisins, sugars. Taste comprises caramel, fruit cake, sweet malts, biscuit crumbs, nutty tones, dried fruit esters. Medium bodied with bite, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a kiss of booze. Decent bock.

Tap at Brewdog, Bristol. Pours clear chestnut brown with a beige top. Aroma: sweet malts, nutty, caramel. Taste: moderate sweet & bitter, caramel, toffee, dark fruits, burnt sugar. Medium bodied with fine carbonation.

Bottle shared at Colin's lockdown tasting. Many thanks to Colin for this one. A reddy nutty malts, loose beige head.. Flavour is composed of semi sweet nutty, jammy fruits,. Palate is semi sweet, nutty, malty, malt loaf, moderate carbonation. Decent.

Bottle at home, 2nd July 2020. Pours a chestnut brown. Aroma is caramel, dark malts. Taste is caramel, bitter burnt sugar, dark malts, some bitter sweet finish, quite complex and enjoyable
