If – for whatever obscure reason – you ever find yourself walking alone through the Biebrza Marshes, a vast wetland in northeastern Poland, may we suggest that you turn back and return to civilization – fast. And if you walk these marshlands late at night, you are either a fool or simply suicidal, since the chance of getting out of there alive is close to nil. Walking in this area is strenuous, with your boots constantly being sucked into the muddy soil. So of course, you are tempted to rest by a stream or even a small lake, and that is where you may likely encounter the Wodnik – a Polish water demon. A Wodnik lives in a crystal palace at the bottom of their claimed body of water. But when a human approaches, the Wodnik will leave his home and face the intruder. Naturally you’ll be in shock when the face of this slimy, green-tinted old fella breaks the water, but his gentle character and soft-spoken voice may calm you down a bit. And exactly then, when your mental guards are lowered, that’s when the Wodnik will grab you, and drag you down to his icy palace, smiling all the way. A palace from which no human has ever returned.

Tap at FOB, Rimini, Italy. Pours dark brown, with fine brown foam. Aroma is of cacao powder, a bit of vanilla. Body is smooth, a tiny bit oily, with delicate carbonation. Taste is a little toasty and roasty bitter, with some chocolate sweetness too. Final is fairly long, enjoyable, slightly hot.

440ml can. Jet black colour with slightly late awakening, average to huge, frothy to creamy, slowly osteoporosing, moderately lacing, tan head. Roasty, slightly chocolately, dark malty aroma, notes of dark chocolate, mocha, some dry cocoa, weak woody overtones with a touch of cedarwood. Taste is moderately bitter, roasty, slightly chocolately, dark malty, slightly caramel malty, mildly woody and minimally spicy, notes of dark chocolate, mocha, some dry cocoa, hints of cedarwood, dark caramel; additionally a minimally peppery spicy and minimally alcoholic touch in the finish.
Creamy-oily texture, smooth and soft, silky, minimally greasy palate, fine, dense, creamy, mildly prickly carbonation.
Very nice composition, harmonious, balanced, focussed, excellent mouthfeel into the bargain - great!

Taste starts with rich roasted malt, bitter chocolate and dried fruit, following is earthy, peppery and woody, mouthfeel is smooth but rather dry, while finish is heavy bitter.
