If – for whatever obscure reason – you ever find yourself walking alone through the Biebrza Marshes, a vast wetland in northeastern Poland, may we suggest that you turn back and return to civilization – fast. And if you walk these marshlands late at night, you are either a fool or simply suicidal, since the chance of getting out of there alive is close to nil. Walking in this area is strenuous, with your boots constantly being sucked into the muddy soil. So of course, you are tempted to rest by a stream or even a small lake, and that is where you may likely encounter the Wodnik – a Polish water demon. A Wodnik lives in a crystal palace at the bottom of their claimed body of water. But when a human approaches, the Wodnik will leave his home and face the intruder. Naturally you’ll be in shock when the face of this slimy, green-tinted old fella breaks the water, but his gentle character and soft-spoken voice may calm you down a bit. And exactly then, when your mental guards are lowered, that’s when the Wodnik will grab you, and drag you down to his icy palace, smiling all the way. A palace from which no human has ever returned.

Can, huge thanks H! Pitch black body, ochre body, thick, okay. Dry, creamy, caramelly, bit herbal aroma, somewhat peppery, mild yeastiness. Lean, dry taste, roasty, somewhat herbal, bit yeasty, maybe mildly peppery, somewhat woody, oaky. BIt too dry, lightly astringent. Okay, but not my favorite among them.

Thanks Henrik! Pitch black colour, small brown head. Aroma is chocolaty, roasted, mild toasted and coffeeish tones with some mild wooden tones. A bit like a strong Dunkel. Flavour is roasted, toasted, chocolaty and mild peppery tones with some slight alcohol sweetness. Smooth still. Smoky and mild peppery roasted malty tones in the finish. With wooden dry feel too.

44 cl can from the brewery's webshop poured into a snifter glass. Near black with a thin, tanned head. Sweet roasted aroma with coffee, dark chocolate, toasted bread, dry, wooden notes, and spiced pepper accents. The taste is sweet. Full body. Drying finish with lingering dark malts. Nice.
