This dark, strong Belgian ale evokes dark fruits, caramel and warming alcohol. Through maturation in an ex-sherry cask, the complex esters and subtle phenols are deepened with rich, sophisticated oaky notes. With ageing comes wisdom, strength and character.

Bottle 750ml. @ [ Pre-Borefts 2017 Tasting ] - @ Brouwerij Kwartje, Frederikstraat 837, 2514LZ Den Haag, Netherlands. [ As Natural Selection Aged Ancestor ].Clear light dark brown colour with a small to average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, chocolate, cake, sweet malt, wood, rasins - prunes - riped fruit - dark fruit - oxidide sherry. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a average to long duration, chocolate, dark malt, wood, alcohol, rasins - prunes - riped fruit - dark fruit - oxidide sherry, wood - oak. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. [20170920] 7-4-7-3-15

At Pre-Borefts tasting. Aroma of sweet raisin, malt and ripe fruit. Taste has malt, raisin, ripe fruit, oak and some oxidation unfortunately. It's allright.

Bottle. Hazy brown color with beige head. Aroma is molasses, raisins, chocolate, nutty. Taste is raisins, prunes, malty, toffee. High carbonation, silky mouthfeel.

Shared at pre-Borefts tasting, thanks for sharing everybody! Very dark brown with dark beige head. Raisins, red wine, sweet caramel and toffee, brown sugar, vanilla, soft flowers. Over medium sweet and soft bitter. Almost full bodied.

7 3 8 3 15 Bottle shared at Pre-Borefts Tasting, The Hague '17. Hazy brown with a ring tan head. Aroma of overripe dark fruits, herbs, oak and oxidized sherry. Flavour is moderate to light heavy sweet and moderate bitter. Above medium bodied with soft carbonation.
