Can. An opaque dark brown beer with a small tan head. The nose is redolent with fruity ginger and ginger beer. Smooth palate, slightly soft, decent fine carbonation. Soft dark chocolate malts, smooth and creamy, very nice indeed. The big fruity ginger on the nose carries over into taste, but riper and richer. The Rum barrel kicks in with a rich fruitiness and seals everything wonderfully. Smooth and fairly light finish. Wooh! This could have gone either way but certainly went the right way. Lovely conjunction of dark chocolate, rum and ginger. Yum.

Can sample at a tasting at Yoav's place. Opaque black. Lots of pickled ginger, soy sauce, very sweet, sugar, some chocolate, orange, umami, some rum. Weird. Not my thing.

Can split at the second High Tickombe Tasting, from HOTM online, 04/09/20. Black with a tan cap that dissipates to a swirl. Nose is big on root ginger, dark chocolate, roast malts, molasses, brown sugar. Taste comprises chocolate cake, crystallised ginger, brown sugar, mellow roast, dried fruits, Jamaica ginger cake, tickle of rum spice. Full bodied, fine carbonation, oily feel, warming alcohol in the close. Decent well balanced impy stout ... not always easy to get the ginger right.
