Draught at the beer festival. Jet black with a large head. Aroma of a sweet dry stout. Flavour of roast caramel, slightly sweet smoke base, more like Murphy’s than Guinness

Tap at the boxty house. A jet black coloured pour with a lasting khaki head. Aroma is earthy agricultural roast, roasty barley, liquorice, woody roast, light campfire. Flavour is composed of semi sweet, nutty toasted barley, light Ash, light tangy roast, palate us semi sweet, rounded, nitro, creamy. Ok. Passible.

Keg at Gallaghers Boxty House, Dublin, 15/09/19. Black with a decent khaki cap the dissipates to a swirl. Nose is mellow roast, charr, dried fruits, cocoa sprinkle. Taste comprises roast malts, raisins, hint of liquorice, brown sugars, chocolate sprinkle. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, drying close. Passable stout but like the lager finishes a little overly sweet for my liking.

(On tap) Black with tan head. Subtle toasted grain aroma. Smooth with soft carbonation. Slight sweetness to start. Dark roast malt and dark toffee hints. Smoky hints. Modest bitterness in finish. Rather good.
