This beer features a big, pleasant mouth feel: chocolate, dried cherries, prunes & figs, finishing with a long lasting tingling in the back of the mouth. The hops have been outdone here but take a willing backseat simply adding to the complexity of one of our favorite beers. This beer is served in a snifter – cup with both hands & allow to warm slightly to fully enjoy.

taster flight at brewery. Muddy brown pour, small bublby beige head. Sweet, roasty aroma, chocolate. Taste is over sweet, roasty, sugary. bad finsh to a mediocre flight.

On tap at Daft Badger, pours black with almost no head. Aroma brings out medium toasted malt upfront, with little else. Flavour is very light on the roast, and heavy on the dark fruits - followed by caramel and toffee. A deep fruity maltiness, with little roast and even less hoppy bitterness. Solid but not a top tier example of the style.

On tap at the brewery pours out black topped with a tan head. Nose is nice roast malts and some sweet chocolate. Taste is more of the nice sweet malts black licorice chocolate notes and some light coffee.

From sampler at the brewery yesterday. Black pour with red edges; tan foam lasts a couple minutes. Aroma is kind of muted, but it’s a little nutty and roasty. Taste is sweet and roasty, liquid dessert. Creamy mouthfeel, softly carbonated. Tasty stuff.
