(On tap @ the brewpub, Toronto, Mar 7/20) Pours extremly murky rusty brownish red with a small off white head, definitely not a pretty beer. Aroma is heavy red wine, red berries, oak, sweet toffee malt, acetone/alcohol, some bittering hops. Flavour is pretty sweet and caramel malt-forward, red wine, berries, vanilla oak, potpourri, alcohol heat that becomes quite prominent in the finish, moderate bitterness. Medium-bodied, average carbonation. This is a pretty rough beer, if it wasn't at the end of a long day of beer I might have set it aside.

On tap at Black Lab, pours a murky, rusted dark red with a tiny beige head - looks pretty bad. Aroma is intense on the red wine barrels, with some nail polish remover, caramel, and red fruits. Flavour is fairly intense, with lots of red wine barrels, perfume, caramel and red fruits. Very boozy and rather harsh. Similar issue as the BA Anubis, in that the barrels impart a rather harsh perfumey character. It's alright, but difficult to drink.
