12 oz. bottle purchased at Oliver’s Beverage Center. No bottle date anywhere. Served in an English pint at nearly room temperature. Mild head retention over a black liquid. Pleasing aroma of dark roasted malts, a touch of sweet caramel and coffee hints. Flavor is initially a sweet chocolate, followed by burnt coffee beans with nice oat flakes, giving the body a kind of chewy texture. Some creaminess on the tongue. Low bitterness but just enough to help balance the sweetness. Nice brew.

Draft: Fudge nose. Mahogany, thin tan head, thorough glass coating. Nice chocolate and coffee interplay, right from the very beginning. Mulberry and elderberry notees appear after that, but it kind of peters out after that. Nice complexity even when sampled much too cold. The berry notes become especially prominent once warm.
