Sampled from the tap at the brewery. Pours a clear deep amber brown with a tan head that dissipates quickly to the edges. Aroma has bourbon and light caramel with sweet grains and a bit of cookie backing. Flavor has a nice bourbon and toffee combination with caramel and sweet bread supporting.

12 oz. can from Haymarket. I've gotta get into more of these barleywines when they're fresh. They taste more like malty beers and less like old wine. This one had a big, heady sherry (okay a wine) and bourbon smell under the cap. Pouring into a glass lets more of the alcohol vapors get into my nose, along with dried plum and raisin, tobacco, and Encyclopædia Britannica leather. Taste is equally fruity, with a bit of barrel tannins and vanilla, but the malt and alcohol are found n equal parts. Starting to regret that I've got some barleywines I put away 15 or more years ago and never tried fresh. But the feeling will pass.

On tap at Haymarket, pours a clear dark mahogany / burgundy with a small beige head. Aroma brings pour intense bourbon barrels, some port character, caramel, molasses, and brown sugar. Flavour is incredibly intense, with lots of alcohol, robust bourbon, caramel, and toffee. Now that's an intense beer. The bourbon sure leaves its mark. Really good, albeit intense, nearly brutal, beer.
