0.33 l bottle from ’BierPost.com’, best before October 2016. Black with a thin, frothy, almost stable, beige head. Sweetish-malty, slightly smoky and a bit fruity aroma of caramel, molasses, raisins and some smoke. Sweetish-malty, a bit sourish, slightly fruity and a bit smoky taste of caramel, molasses, raisins, prunes, oak and a touch of smoke, followed by a medium long, slightly bitter, a bit woody-tart, a little roasty and minimally smoky finish. Medium to full body, slightly oily mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Very tasty, quite sourish actually, but only slightly smoky, maybe past its prime. Expected more (or something different)!

(Draught at Hopfenreich, Berlin, 28 Aug 2016) Dark brown colour with creamy, beige head. Malty, smoky nose with chocolate, dark bread and smoked ham. Malty, smoky taste with notes of chocolate, coffee, dark bread, smoked ham, hints of sour cherries and a balanced roasty bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with a certain sweetness. Quite complex with lots of chocolate to balance the smokiness. Nice one.
