The strongest of the brewing styles, this beer is resinous with the rich malt character of the barley that was 100% grown and malted on Vancouver Island. Its long ageing period in Four Roses bourbon barrels provides bourbon sweetness and notes of vanilla from the oak of the barrels.

Tasting at Ryan's, bottle
Golden colour, just slightly hazy. Nice aroma of toffee and bourbon. Sweet, full bodied, it has some mellow toffee, and tons of vanilla/bourbon, and lots of alcohol warmth; it's not complex, but it's (simply) pleasant.

500ml (thx, Gerry!) @ Ryan's. Appearance: a bit hazy pale copper with a white head. Aroma: malty, a bit oxidized, some bourbon and booze. Taste: along the same lines, a bit boozy, lots of vanilla and creamy notes from the oak. Overall: ok.

Poured from 500mL bottle. Clear golden orange with minimal white head. Caramel, light booze and barrel. Okay.

Pale amber, just a slight haze. The aroma is malty, and there's some bubblegum to it. Soft body. Light sweetness. Touch of caramel. The barrel brings a fair bit of alcohol and sweetness. The base is fairly simple and I'm not convinced that the treatment adds to it.

500mL bottle, pours a cloudy amber with a small beige head. Nose has a fair bit of vanillins, moderate bourbon character, lots of booze, and caramel malt. Flavour is sweet, malty, and boozy, with lots of brown sugar, some molasses, plenty of vanillins, and bourbon barrels. Sweet, gently boozy, sugary -- not as complex or deep as the 2020 version, but this is still very nicely done.
