Bourbon barrel aged lager
Brewed with Heirloom Pilsner malt, noble and new world hops, and well conditioned in barrel. Soft grassy malt, delicate hop character, with oak vanilla and light tannin. Our Celestial Bodies Series is a celebration of our barrel program. Blending the old with the new, these brews span the astral planes of space and time, flavour and experimentation...

473mL can, pours a clear darkish golden with a small white head. Aroma reveals plenty of boozy bourbony spirit notes upfront, followed by straw and biscuity malt. Flavour is boozy and herbaceous, with lots of alcohol, concrete (like it was aged in one of HotD's concrete eggs), followed by herbaceous notes and grass. Bizarre. That barrel character doesn't work well with the lager qualities. Not convincing.

473 ml can. Pours a clear amber with light head that settles to nothing quite quickly. Aromas of oak and grain. Flavors of same. Oak is sharp without much bourbon. Interesting but doesn’t really bring forth any lager or bourbon.

Can from The Gull, North Vancouver
Blond colour, clear. The base beer seems decent, not too weak, with some residual sweetness, some malt, medium to low bitterness; the Bourbon is very delicate, but present, aroma and flavour, adding a new dimension; it's not the direction I need in a Lager, but it's fairly good and fun.
