On tap at Reuben's, pours a fairly clear dark amber brown with a small beige head. Aroma brings out lots of caramel, toffee, brown sugar and dark fruits. Flavour is sweet, with loads of caramel, light salted notes, brown sugar and bready malt. Lots of sweet caramel, accentuated with salt, with a syrupy, viscous palate. There are better barley wines out there, but this is very nice.
