BBIS Double Barrel is an imperial stout aged twice in a blend of bourbon barrels. Starting with 1- and 2-year-old BBIS, we then rebarrel the blend in freshly emptied Heaven hill bourbon barrels. The second barrel treatment enhances the notes of vanilla and oak contributed by the wood, and raises the final ABV to 16 percent. A rich and decadent aroma of vanilla and oak is accompanied by a body full of warming bourbon spice, along with a honey sweetness and dry finish.

Looks like there were a couple of vintages of this on tap, one marked as Heaven Hill, which is always is. Both were excellent. Dark brown, thin head. Rich, oxidized, toasty, toffeeish, not especially thick but it does have a lot of toasty barrel character. 8 4 8 4 16 = 4.0 BBIS Heaven Hill Dark brown, thin head, chocolate, vanilla, refined heaven hill, on the sweet side but just sufficiently balanced. Quality. 8 4 8 4 17 = 4.1

On tap at Chuck's Hop Shop - Greenwood, pours black with a small beige head. Aroma is intense, with loads of bourbon barrels, moderate roast, and alcohol. Flavour is very boozy, with a ridiculous amount of bourbon and booze dominating. There's just enough roast underneath to balance. This is a monstrous beer that is beautifully balanced and constructed, yet brutal and ridiculous. I love this.
