Native refermentation of grapes from Red Willow Vineyards Yakima Valley, Washington
This 2019 harvest beer was made through a native fermentation of Riesling grapes from vines planted in 1982 at Red Willow Vineyards at the Eastern Foothills of the Cascade Mountains. The grapes were destemmed and crushed and allowed to referment with skin contact for quite some time with a blend of 18 months old spelt beer inoculated in a coolship and barrel fermented and aged saison.
This beer was refermented to condition in the bottle with raw Washington honey.

Bottle at Weathered 2022, Vancouver
Floodland mmxix Riesling Blond colour, clean. Nice blend of farty Ale and white grapes, it almost has some stone fruit character, some sulfur. Moderate acidity. Good.

Bottle at Weathered 2022, pours a hazy golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out moderate barnyard funk, Riesling grapes, and light oak. Flavour is complex, with black pepper, Riesling grape must, and oak. Complex and buggy, with lots of grape must and oak. Lovely.

A pour at I hope not a super spreader event Weathered. A secret, non-announced bottle. Appearance: a bit hazy blonde with a white head. Aroma: a bit funky, oak, grapes. Taste: along the same lines, moderately acidic, juicy. Overall: good one, rich, maybe a bit too acidic for me, but it is well hidden by juiciness.
