A new language of yeast-driven IPA is emerging and Dageraad wants to add to the vocabulary. These IPAs are driven by new strains of yeast that can transform odorless compounds in hops and grain into vividly fruity thiols, changing understated old world hops into fruit bombs.
New Slang is a series of new IPAs where we will explore combinations of yeasts and ingredients to see what new taste experiences we can create.
New Slang 01 is dry-hopped with Nelson Sauvin and Saaz hops.

473mL can, pours a clear golden with a medium white head. Nose brings out a nice citrusy, white wine tang from the Nelson, some gentle spiciness from the Saaz, black pepper, light melon, and crisp biscuity malt. Flavour is bright and crisp, with bright citrusy, white wine tanginess, spicy hops, melon, and crisp biscuity malt. Bright, crisp, and tangy, with good balance. The coriander doesn't really come through, except maybe as a touch of pepper. Really nicely done.

Poured from the tap @ VCBW. Clear-ish blonde gold with full white head. Pepper, tropical hops, crisp biscuit malt. Decent.

Pale amber with some haze, but not a lot. Not much head either. Has some floral hop notes. A bit of tropical stuff, carambola, light guava. The malts are probably too heavy here - sticky biscuity, sort of getting in the way of the hops. Finishes with some tangerine, mind you. I think I was hoping for cleaner and brighter, as that would be a good direction.

Can from The Gull, North Vancouver
Blond colour, slightly hazy. Interesting aroma, it's peppery, tropical, mineral, light sulfur. Dry and lean, weaker than expected; light crispy malt, lightly peppery and light citrus peel, with low bitterness.
Clean, the aroma is more interesting, it gets weak in the finish.
