Blaufränkish Sour

This barrel-aged sour ale was fermented in neutral wine barrels with our house mixed-culture of yeast and bacteria to create a complex sour base. During harvest in 2021 we added fresh Blaufränkisch grape skins to the beer and let it age for an additional 3 months before bottling. Expect a nice red colour and notes of Electric watermelon punch, fun dip, and raspberries in a lean and crisp body.

Bottle sample at Farmhouse Fest 2022, pours a hazy dark pink with a small off-white head. Aroma is full of blueberry skins and a touch of wild yeast. Flavour is full of tart blueberry skins and some wild yeast. Tart, wild and dry, with lots of berry skins. Pleasant enough.
