Hazy IPA w/Passionfruit, Guava & Prickly Pear

Winter doldrums, I believe they call them.

Time drags on and darkness lingers and we’re itching for the relief of warm sunshine and bright days. A quick flight down south would be nice!

We don’t have the ability to fly you down to more temperate climates but we did concoct a little escape as an alternative…

We combined passion fruit, guava and prickly pear cactus with an easy drinking hazy IPA base to provide a momentary getaway. Dry hop additions of Vic Secret and Mosaic provide layers of tropical fruit support with gentle bitterness and bubblegum. With a smooth mouthfeel, enhanced by the additions of spelt and oats, Arizona offers a bright, refreshing and balanced sip to wash away the gloom. At least for a little while!

Poured from 473mL can (canned 10 Jul 2023). Hazy yellow gold with small white head. Dank citrusy tropical hops with lots of prickly pear, a bit of guava, and some feint passionfruit. Decent.

473mL can, pours a hazy bright golden orange with a small white head. Nose brings out a lot of the prickly pear upfront, with a touch of guava, and subdued citrus hopping. Flavour is largely a function of the tropical fruit -- the guava and prickly pear in particular -- followed by a hint of slightly tart passionfruit and subdued citrus hopping. None of the usual chalky nonsense or hopburn, thankfully. This comes across more like a slightly hopped tropical fruit beer than an IPA. Whatever it is, it's fine, but not interesting.

Amber, hazy, the fruit is mellow, balanced, but it comes across a bit light.
