Our take on a traditional Gose.
Originating from Goslar, Germany, this beer is in the family of traditional sourweisses.
Brewed with pilsner malt, 50% wheat malt and rye to give it a straw-like colour, slight hazy body and gentle spice. Soured with Lactobacillus then warm fermented with Kveik yeast to provide a slight tartness and fruity aroma. Additions of coriander deliver lemon and floral notes and salt is added to mimic the water table of the Gose River.
Light, bright and refreshing, Gose is a style that’s suitable for any time of day and is equally at home standing alone or matching up with a meal.

On tap at Steel & Oak, pours a hazy blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out tons of saline, followed by citrus and lacto. Flavour is full of saline, lacto and citrus, finishing salty and yogurty. Quite competently made, even if a bit too yogurty. Pleasant.

Slight haze. Thin head. Quite pale. Tart, fruity, this has a nice citrus note. Good body, malty backbone. Well-balanced. Little saltiness in the finish. Really solid gose.
